When to Seek Immediate Medical Attention for a UTI

Contact your doctor or seek immediate medical care if you experience any of the following:

High fever (above 101°F or 38.3°C). A high fever suggests a more severe infection requiring prompt attention.

Severe pain in your lower back or side. This could indicate kidney infection, a serious complication of a UTI requiring immediate treatment.

Bloody urine. The presence of blood warrants immediate medical evaluation.

Nausea and vomiting. These symptoms, especially when accompanied by fever, suggest a serious infection.

Chills or shaking. Chills and shaking are signs of a systemic infection and need urgent medical attention.

Note: These symptoms could indicate a more severe problem than a simple UTI. Delaying treatment can lead to complications. Don’t hesitate to contact a healthcare provider if you have concerns.
