Recommended Ciprofloxacin Dosage Regimen for Adult Anthrax Patients

For adult patients diagnosed with inhalational anthrax, the recommended Ciprofloxacin dosage is 400 mg, administered orally or intravenously, every 12 hours. This regimen should continue for a minimum of 60 days. For cutaneous anthrax, a similar dosage is typically prescribed, but the duration of treatment may be shortened to 7-10 days, depending on the patient’s response and the severity of the infection. Always follow your doctor’s specific instructions.

Intravenous Administration

If intravenous administration is necessary, the medication should be diluted according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Carefully monitor the patient for adverse reactions, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or allergic reactions.

Oral Administration

Oral Ciprofloxacin should be taken with a full glass of water, ideally on an empty stomach or at least one hour before or two hours after meals. Patients should be advised to complete the full course of treatment, even if symptoms improve. Regular follow-up with a physician is critical.
