Cleanse the affected area with mild soap and water, then pat it dry thoroughly. This prepares the skin for optimal absorption of the medication.
Squeeze a pea-sized amount of Lamisil ointment onto your fingertip. Avoid using excessive amounts; more isn’t necessarily better.
Gently apply the ointment to the infected area, spreading it thinly and evenly. Make sure to cover the entire affected region, including slightly beyond the edges of the rash or infection.
Beyond the Application
Wash your hands immediately after applying the ointment. This prevents accidental spread of the fungus to other parts of your body or to others.
Apply the ointment twice daily, morning and evening, or as directed by your doctor. Consistency is key for successful treatment.
Continue using Lamisil ointment for the full duration prescribed by your doctor, even if the symptoms improve before the end of the treatment course. Prematurely stopping treatment can lead to recurrence of the fungal infection.
Addressing Potential Issues
If irritation occurs, reduce the frequency of application or consult your doctor. They may suggest an alternative treatment option if needed. Never discontinue use without medical advice.
Store the ointment at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children.
